What is AI Governance?

It surfaces every AI tool in use across the workforce, applies policy guardrails in real time, and prevents sensitive data from leaving to public AI tools. Aona is built for CISOs, IT, and GRC teams who need to adopt AI safely without slowing the business down.
Aona deploys through two lightweight endpoints: a browser plugin for Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, and a native app for Windows and macOS. The native app also inspects the ChatGPT, Copilot, and Claude desktop apps and AI agents, currently in limited rollout. Together these give security teams a real-time inventory of every AI tool in use across the organisation, matched against a catalogue of more than 10,000 AI tools, so unsanctioned and newly emerging tools surface as employees start using them.
Yes. Aona enforces in-production hard-block data loss prevention on the top-tier AI tools, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and Bing. When an employee tries to paste or upload sensitive content, Aona can block the action outright or redact the sensitive parts before it ever reaches the AI tool. File redaction is layout-preserving for DOCX, Excel, and PDF.
Aona offers data residency across 7 regions: Australia, France, the UK, Germany, the US, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Backend hosting can be in your cloud, on-premises or on Aona-managed servers; prompt processing is a separate choice and can run on-device at the edge, in your cloud or on-premises, or on Aona-managed servers. Aona has completed a SOC 2 Type II examination covering Security, Confidentiality and Availability. Request the report to review the auditor’s findings and the full system scope.
